being that this is not "ex jws" and in fact, more driven by atheists talking a bunch of crap, im not even going to address you people like you know anything about jws because you dont.
nor am i going to assume you know the bible because none of you do.. and yes, im speaking down at you all because you men have actually went out your way to make a site to speak down at an entire group of people.
yet i bet you cant even handle a single uswer talking down at you, like you talk down about jws can you?.

the movie american sniper is breaking box office records and of course there is some irony that a movie about a sniper is released on martin luther king day (who was shot by one).. but of course there is a world of difference between an assassin and a military sniper ... or is there?.
some are making a big stink about it and claiming that "snipers are cowards".
it seems unfair to me.
I've heard of the prejudice against snipers in WW2. It was a big thing at the time.
An old guy I used to talk with fought in WW2 under Patton (actually met him) in Africa and Italy. He mentioned the "snipers are cowards" philosophy several times.
He said, "It was always the dumb, soon-to-be-dead guys who thought killing from a distance was cowardice. The truth about combat is the smarter you are, the further from the enemy you stay."

I am sick of posters like this giving believers a bad name.
To be honest, I have begun avoiding anyone who is religious or claims to be spiritual.
I realize ARSe is mentally ill (manic phase of bi-polar most likely) and he is the minority, but almost all the religious people I have known eventually became aggressive and try to force me to follow them.
I don't have spiritual conversations with anyone. I respectfully excuse myself when someone starts preaching. I never tell anyone my religious or non-religious views (except on this forum).
However, in the past month, an old lady at the grocery store grabbed my hand and started yelling that her church was the "one true religion", my neighbors are claiming that god speaks to them and that all Catholics should be killed, a friend from childhood (we have been friends 30 years) joined a new church and become very hateful to anyone not a member (he wont talk to me anymore), and an insurance rep was wanting me to join a fantasy football league, which sounded like fun, but then he started calling everyday preaching Mormonism and getting louder and more controlling for no apparent reason. This was just random people in the past month, not to mention the typical religious shunning from my JW family and friends.
I never told any of these people that I'm an atheist, never made a single religious comment. I just wanted to talk about football, frozen dinners, or the weather, but it never works out that way.
I would love to have a conversation about normal everyday things with a believer. But once they start talking about religion, and they always do, it becomes an aggressive demand for my submission to their beliefs.
I'm not attacking anyone just pointing out my recent experiences with spiritual people and why some may avoid the religious. While it may seem the minority of spiritual people are aggressive, it really isn't.

Unless a person has fought in a war, their opinion on wartime courage or cowardice means nothing.

mormon leaders have moved to excommunicate the prominent founder of an online forum for questioning mormons, charging him with apostasy for publicly supporting same-sex marriage and the ordination of women, and for challenging church teaching.. .

Please don't let me have to be a gay polygamist.
i keep reading that jehovah's witnesses are in effect monsters.
i keep reading that they kinda leave chaos and distrust in their wake.
so i simply wondered if anyone had anything nice to say about them?.
You like JWs because they share your delusions.
on jw broadcasting there is a video of a missionary couple who were sent to a navajo reservation.
the sister says the thing she learned most at bethel was "shovel the coal, don't question the captain".
it's worth watching about 60 seconds from the 4 minute mark.
I think some people are truly happy being just a gear or a screw.
Some people need to be mindless cogs. Someone else makes all the decisions and accepts all the responsibility for those decisions. The cog is free from responsibility in their own lives.
Why do you think believers get so offended when you tell them to think for themselves? You are threatening their only perceived means of survival: following the minds of others.
Many mental and emotional followers cannot even comprehend mental and emotional freedom. It is a foreign language they have never bothered to learn.
a basic problem with christian apologetics when applied to the bible is that it relies on the tacit assumption you can draw reliable conclusions on the material.
the most common form of apologetics start out by certain claims (the tomb was found empty, the disciples had post-crusifiction experiences of jesus that transformed their lives, etc.
this is hearsay since the person who made the statement cannot be sworn in.
Why would anyone care to dissect the events surrounding Jesus' resurrection in order to know the truth about it?
I agree with Honesty.
Whats the point of examining everyone's myths. Its a waste a time. Pretending to know what you don't know is not a virtue, knowledge, or intelligence. Just arrogance, narcissism, and delusions.
People like theology because its easy.
do you get confused sometimes whether this site is a discussion forum or a debating forum ?.
just asking.
whats your thoughts.. smiddy.
In a way they are like Jehovah's witnesses on steroids, they tear everything down.
But offer nothing in its place standing over the ruins of faith.
This is profoundly naive and immature.
You're complaining that ignorance is being torn down. You condemn as liars the people pointing out simple, obvious facts. Followed by whining that reality, freedom, and knowledge aren't enough to satisfy your neediness.
Go back to your superstitions. Your babysitters are waiting.
